Ashes Thoughts

Well, after the debacle that was the ashes, I have decided that a new broom is needed to show the way forward for all future test series.
Here we go
No 1 - Andrew Strauss - should be the skipper
No 2 - Alistair Cook - opener for the next ten years
No 3 - KP - simply the best english batsman on his day
No 4 - Paul Collingwood - I know he's a ginger mackem, but he's doing a good job
No 5 - Ed Joyce - Attacking Oirish talent. next big thing
No 6 - Fred Flintoff - let him go back to what he's good at, batting and bowling
No 7 - James Foster - should have been given more of a chance
No 8 - Stuart Broad - why isn't he in the land of convicts now?
No 9 - Simon Jones - I know he's not fit at the minute, but he was a big reason why we won the ashes back in the first place.
No 10 - Matthew Hoggard - big heart, good pace, good action, good all round egg
No 11 - Monty Panesar - Bye bye Gilesy, you won't be missed.

other people to look for in '07 :-
Adil Rashid (yorkshire) - leggie, top order bat. nuff said
Steve Harminson (durham) - if he gets his head right, then he should be there or thereabouts
Ben Harmison (durham) - batsman

Countdown to operation

No, not that one.

My knee operation is in three weeks time, give or take a day or two. The Feast of the Cash register (thanks for that witch of a blue hue) plans are necessarily wierd this year. Fly up on Pikeyjet home next week, stay for a few days, fly back down on pikeyjet just before new year and have a boring new year in cambridge doing naff all. Then operation on January 2nd in Ely. what fun!

Here's hoping that the FOTCR lives up to it's usual crapiness:- deep breath - here we go
Get back to Whitley, realise again that it's now only ever going to be a shitehole.
and
it
all
goes
downhill
from
there.

My brother is a genius!

I've been reading some gubbins from old/failed website attempts.

A while ago on my old blog I put a photo of the mathematical bridge in Cambridge as an Icon of England (wiki/google it if you haven't seen a picture).

here's the response my brother put down - a work of total genius.

"you defecting swine"
"Bought up in W/Bay and you can't find a better English iconic image than a poxy bridge!
How about the used sharps and prophylactics on the beach, the mighty Easy St. on south parade; greggs..GREGGS!!! The river of kebab and burger remains mingling poetically with the congealing vomit to morning after any bank holiday monday, The fantastic efforts of Morth Tyneside Council, ie the 'magnificent' Christmas Tree on Whitley Road, the occasional dead pidgeon/rat/dog/charver on the Metro lines, and who could forget our own Johnny D*****(name witheld due to possible legal rumble). You have a lot to answer for Briggs, so get your fat ass back up here so I can kick it good"!

my brother is a genius. I rest my case.

Ashes Losers

Well, the Ashes seems to have been lost.

so prepare for an aussie backlash.

However, one or two points to go over with here.
Langer, Hayden, Gilchrist, Warne, McGrath, McGill are all over 33.
two years time, they have noooooo backup to come through. I mean Stuart Clarke's 31 and they are talking him up as the next McGrath.

bring it on with the pensioners.

back into reality

Well, I'm back for now.
warcraft has reared it's head for a while, but I am having to stop playing tonight due to :-
a - urgent update to computer
b - housemates using all of the bandwidth to download stuff
c - realising that I am not a wwarrior with an enormous sword - fnar fnar

anyhoo - the rest of my delayed a-z of me is coming this weekend.

new - I have been made skipper of the cricket team for next season. more responsibility and even less of a social life here I come. luckily i am single otherwise I would have been dumped anyway.

hi to various peeps. will start to post on a regular basis soon. I do promise to show you the after-effects of my knee sugery in early january.

other than that - talk later.
